The Georgia–Armenia border: Sadakhlo–Bagratashen
Cars between Tbilisi and Yerevan cross the border here: Sadakhlo is the Georgian side, Bagratashen the Armenian one. Here, briefly, is what to expect.
How the control goes
You pass control twice: first with the border guards of the country you are leaving, then with those of the country you are entering. Luggage is checked in the country you are entering. The driver tells you when and where to get out.
Which documents you need
A passport or — depending on your citizenship — a national ID card. Visa rules depend on citizenship: check them in official sources before you travel. Each passenger is responsible for their own documents.
How long it takes
The crossing works around the clock. The time at the border depends on the queue and nobody can tell you in advance. The whole trip between Tbilisi and Yerevan, border included, usually takes 5–6 hours.
A tip
Keep your passport on you, not in your luggage — you will need it twice at the border.
